IARC 50 for 50 testimonials

The Agency launched the IARC “50 for 50”: Empowering future cancer research leaders, Lyon, 6-10 June 2016, a fellowship programme to bring together 50 future leaders in cancer research from low- and middle-income countries, one for each year of IARC's existence within the international scientific conference “Global cancer occurrence, causes and avenues to prevention” held in Lyon in June 2016, and celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Agency. The one-week programme, 6-10 June 2016 in Lyon, included participation in the three-day scientific conference for IARC’s 50th anniversary, a pre-conference workshop and a series of networking events to foster collaborations.

In addition, two participants "50 for 50" participants, Laura Mendoza Torres, Researcher at the Health Sciences Research Institute, from Paraguay and Gevorg Tamamyan, Lecturer at the Yerevan State Medical University from Armenia attended the 2016 UICC World Cancer Leaders' Summit (1) ‘Tomorrow is now: our journey to 2025' as IARC 50 for 50 Young Leaders on 31 October 2016 along with 8 other Young Leaders selected by the UICC.
